Thanks Peter!

Now, I realize that this is not the best photograph that I have ever taken. But I can not believe how bad it looks on this site. To compare, here is a link for the same image file posted on that "Other" photosite. In my opinion it looks 100% better over there than here. Why is that? Just take a look at the LARGE view over here and then please visit that link; you decide. Regards.

I figured it out. It is all the bright white on this site that ruins the appearance of the images, not to mention how PhotoNet compresses the uploads. If we could have an 18% gray background behind our photographs they would look as we intended. Regards.

I was about to say that tad darker side of your photos if I remember correct. But colours, sky and sun reflections look great.

I have earlier noticed that compression can really kill photo... I had a chance to compare one of the better photos of PN. (actually Maciek Duczynski's BW landscape with boat...) with same caption showen in photo magazine. That was only repro but still dozens of times better; jpg in monitor had lost most of shadow details...

No ratings, since I do not them anymore. My respect instead. a s l a

Walter, Don't beat up on yourself too much, it's not THAT bad! Not only that but my (& I suspect many others') expectations for an internet viewed image are less than that of say, an original print. There is enough high quality evident here for most to recognize it would indeed make a superb print. I really like the placement of the main elements here, foreground object, sun reflection, & tree. Nice triangular pattern. Gotta love the subtle highlights on the breakwater on the right as well. The patterns in the sky are interesting too but I favour the rich colours and tones of the foreground. Great return on your investment in any case. Best, LM.
