Excellent Capture John! Even through this tight cropping, it conveys a wonderful mood.

At the risk of sounding ignorant, since I'm new to DSLR photography, how is it that you seem to have used a Nikon lens on a Canon camera? Is this something that is cross platform compatible due to the specific lens and/or camera, or is it a common ability of most (if not all) Canon cameras to accept Nikon Lenses? If so, do you know of any Canon lenses that would work with a Nikon body?

Once again, congrats on a great capture!

Cheers!

Vinu, he uses a special adapter which allows the nikon mount to fit the cannon mount. However, you loose autofocus functionality when you use such an adapter.

John, great image. Spot on focus and the dark mood of this photo works well.

Sorry I have not paid attention recently.

Yes, I use many Nikon manual focus lenses on my Canon 10D and Elan IIe using cheap mechanical adapters. I do lose auto aperture but all my sports images are taken either wide open or stopped down one stop making it a non-issue. All Canon EOS bodies will meter with these lenses in Av and Manual modes. I usually use manual and use the EV+/- readout as a match needle meter system.

I have always had to be careful to overide auto settings since the headlights can cause serious underexposure.

I did not like the composition of this original shot and decided to crop even tighter since it is one of the sharpest images I came back with. The angle has not been changed since the car is coming up over the crest of the turn, from back to front, and the track is angled from side to side as well.

Due to the interest in this photo I will have to see if I have other cars/drivers I could do something similar with.

Thanks everyone!
