pnital 36 Posted September 6, 2007 A scene from the dance " Concero of a Band and Four Dancers". Thanks for your thoughts. Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted September 7, 2007 Strong composition of a sombre mood, their distance & the way she lean facing the wall a great significance to their act . Link to comment
jefvandenhoute 0 Posted September 7, 2007 An image with a strong atmosphere trough the light contrast Link to comment
andrzejp 7 Posted September 7, 2007 I like this picture a lot. Great composition and some mystery about the scene makes it very appealing. Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted September 7, 2007 It reminds me of Nero playing his fiddle while Rome burns. He is lost in his art, oblivious to her sorrow or even existence. Imaginative composition. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted September 7, 2007 Thanks all of you! Daily, this is another possibility and thanks for taking the time( always glad to see yours, and others point of view), but I liked my original that is not so strongly acentuated... I think it is right for the mood of the composition, Link to comment
richard hans 0 Posted September 7, 2007 Splendid composition with great balance, clever to use of black bg. and nice lighting & shadows, Pnina, another perfect stage shot!!! Best regards Link to comment
mspanakis 0 Posted September 7, 2007 very nice picture. I love the black abstaction. but I thought like Daily before I saw his version Link to comment
daily_photograph 0 Posted September 8, 2007 who of us both is Winnetou and who is Old Shatterhand? Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted September 8, 2007 ;-)) Who Daily??? and what is the English word Winnetou? BTW, Daily, this one is printed for a furture exhibition, and it looks more accentuated than my original here..... Thanks to all of you! Link to comment
mspanakis 0 Posted September 8, 2007 That reassures me, Pnina. I didn't understand a word of Daily's question either :-) Link to comment
mspanakis 0 Posted September 8, 2007 Oh, I googled! they are german fictional characters. Blood brothers like Daily and myself. The rest of the relation seems very bloody complex. I must read. Any english or french version please? (or greek for that matter?) Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted September 8, 2007 Wonderful use of the darkness to divide the components and produce a dramatic effect. That shadow has a lovely pair of legs. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted September 8, 2007 ... you really made me laugh... Manolism, you and Daily "blood brothers" ... YES, but not from the same parents..... Thanks for googling, I still don't understand a word, maybe Daily will rescue both of us...LOL Jack! at least the shadow's legs .... LOL Link to comment
daily_photograph 0 Posted September 8, 2007 thats the result because you did read Karl Marx instead of Karl May! Teddy Kollek: "The idol of my childhood was Winnetou, the stoic chief of the Apache tribe ..." (Manolis - please dont ask who Teddy Kollek is!) Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted September 8, 2007 Daily, Now I'm completely lost....;-)) Tedi Koled? Karl May? hahahaha Manolis, if you do ask, Tedi Kolek was the mayor of Jerusalem. A very special human being.... Chapeau Daily! Link to comment
markboyer 0 Posted September 8, 2007 This is a marvelous shot. I could read a few stories into it, but the emotional impact doesn't need that becuase it works on an immediate, visceral level. The lighting and comp are fantastic. But to be radical: if you wanted a different shot, you might consider cropping the bass (or cello) player out altogether. Link to comment
mikestacey 0 Posted September 8, 2007 Many stories here Pnina, it's a dramatic shot that's for sure. I'm not sure about the way the celloist is right on the edge of the frame? Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted September 9, 2007 Another very interesting one in your series. The overall atmosphere and feel of this one strikes me as the most personal. Your setting up of contradictories in your title is echoed in the image, the more soft and cerabral musician and with curved instrument, the more stark and edgy quality of the lanky peeper caught in a strong shaft of vertical light. Distance indeed, tied together in story. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted September 9, 2007 Thanks all 3 of you. Mark, I would not like to take out ther musician, even it can be a possibility for another "story",but this one fits exactly of what I wanted to say. Mike, I think that the musician nearly atthe edge of the frame is part of my deliberate intention.... Fred, you "read" it according to my title and intention. Working while the show is on the stage, I have to work fast and with my "gut" feelings , when the scene is touching me as a photographer and viewer.... Link to comment
