jayme 0 Posted September 4, 2007 Another meager attempt to capture our shadows as we travel down the highway :) Please take a look, it's OK to say whatever you like, good or bad. I'm here to learn. My hair is getting way too long. I can see it in our shadows :) Thanks for looking. Link to comment
jim craig 0 Posted September 4, 2007 Not meager at all Jayme, well seen and well captured. You have to see 'em before you can shoot 'em. If it hadn't been for your text description, I'd have been a bit longer in figuring this one out, which is a good thing, isn't it? I really like the captured motion, almost like a screen in front of a back lit subject. I wonder if more detail could be brought out in the lower right in post processing. Very minor, but I'd also like to see a little more daylight between driver and passenger, without you falling off, of course. (: regards, jim Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted September 5, 2007 Thanks Jim. I saw the way the shadow was running thru the white lines as we were going 70mph down the highway, at about 9am yesterday. Against my better judgement, I reached over, unlocked the truck, felt for the camera & pulled it out & re-locked the trunk :) Then.... turning sideways, focused & clicked a couple off. That's why there's not a lot of space between the 2 of us :) My husband was NOT happy I had unlocked the truck in action:( But.... I gotta shoot'em when I see'em :) I'm not sure how I could put anymore space between us, maybe if I lost 50 lbs or so :) That might do it! I printed this one, but not before doing a little PS work on the angles. Here's the final printed version, I think it's rather neat. It looks good matted & framed, (did it this afternoon just for fun :). Link to comment
liviu faur 0 Posted September 5, 2007 Perfect caught. Sense of motion is nice (I have a bike too), colours and ideea beatiful Link to comment
jim craig 0 Posted September 8, 2007 Can't decide whether I prefer the rectangular or square format of your printed version, that's the problem when I'm given choices. (: Either way, it should be a great "wall hanger." regards, jim Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted September 8, 2007 Thanks Jim, it's already hanging at my husband's (Toby) office :) I used the square version, the diagonal line placement felt better to me :) Link to comment
bradkim 8 Posted September 10, 2007 Excellent capture, Jayme! The diagonal white line makes this image even more special.... Link to comment
jnicholson 0 Posted September 10, 2007 I like it. This may be one of those where a point and shoot is easier to use. I just added a G7 to my list of cameras and it's come in handy quite a few times. I agree with Jim regarding the extra space. It looks as though you're turned to your left looking through the viewfinder. That's why I say a P&S might work better because you can pose yourself in a more natural position. Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted September 11, 2007 Thanks Brad, I always appreciate your input. I'm going to email you, I have a question. Jamie that's a great idea. I bought my husband a Canon P&S a while back, it's got 6-MGP. He never uses it :( Maybe I can reclaim it as my own :) You are right, I am turned to take the image, plus we both had heavy coats on. It was only 68 when we left at 8:00am. I took this about 8:30am (I think). I never thought of using the P&S, good idea. I will try it! I will say this, the last shot I took like this was in the evening when we were on our way home & the shadow was running straight across the page. I like this one better. I think the diagonal implies more motion. We were going about 70 MPH in this one. (The new speed limit on interstates in KY) You got to keep up or get run over :( Link to comment
