Very interesting composition and love the colours in the clouds. There seems to be a bit of barrel distortion on the horizon, I'd fix that up, its worth it..

I love the clouds, tree shape and tones. The broken wall is unusual. One thing I would have done is lower the camera down a bit so that the heron's head sticks out in the clouds or at least away from the horizon and maybe make his shadow reflects in the waters like the tree does. Othertwise, I love the atmosphere.

Ger, thanks for your comments. Old Tampa Bay actually curves from the North to the East just to the left of the Heron's head, which may cause the sense of distortion. I will try to straighten out the horizon.

Pascal, good comments. In truth, when I shot this I was framing more the mangrove and the clouds, and thought that I would not use the Heron. (I was using an 18-70mm lens, and had left my 18-200mm in the van). It was only after I downloaded the image that I realized that I wanted to keep the bird in it. I agree, the head gets lost in the horizon line, and it would be better higher or lower.

Thanks,

Glenwood
