I saw this mother way down the river this morning, and was thrilled

when she crossed here. Made my whole day!!!

Mamma bear and two cubs? Don't get too close!!

Hi Henrik, when you look at the other shots you can see I was backing up up to get out of her way since she was coming towards me. Makes no sense to run since it triggers their predatory instinct, so you may as well grab a shot or two.

 

In the shot of them eating, the blur on the bottom right is the roof rack of the mini-van between me and them as I stood on the picnic table, which seemed a safe spot to be.

 

BTW your bear shot of Dec 2002 is awesome. This was not at any bear viewing station, just some picnic tables by the river.

Yeah, I checked your portfolio and I can see you know what you are doing. Around here we quite often have tourists getting far to close to bears. They do look cute but they're wild (and magnificent) animals.
