Tractor-boat complex looks almost cute! This photo is soooo smooth, beginning from sand, continuing to not-too-restless-sea and ending to sky (dramatic but not too much). Even toning looks classy. Platinum? If you can provide little bit information of your toning method, I'd be grateful!

Main subject is placed very well, thirds are used and tonality is good. This photo is excellent! No ratings, since I do not them anymore. My respect instead. a s l a

Asla, thank you, I'm glad you like this picture. Indeed I initially found quite amazing this combination of tractor and boat. But I later realized it's quite common in Normandy! This is probably because the countryside ends up when the shore begins. There's plenty of tractores therefore right beneath the beaches and it's not a bad idea to use them to move boats.

About tones, I normally use the "Channel Mixer" function on PS to produce B/W picture from color. In this case, I mixed a +100% red channel with a -5% blu channel to produce a more dramatic sky, and a +10% green channel to lighten up the sea that was too dark. Finally I applied a 25% Sepia filter all over, to give a warmy mood to the picture. In effect, this is not a 8 bit monochromatic file, but a 24 bit full color jpg.

Anyway, each single picture works fine only with its particular channel mixing. You only need to scroll right and left the bar of each channel until you are fully satisfied with the result.

Cheers, Paolo
