I spent 15 minutes or so watching these birds beneath my feet, and found some really interesting things happening with the light and the water's reflection of the underside of the walkway/bridge. Once I was willing to risk my rig by leaning out over the railing and shooting, essentially, below and behind me, I was able to get rid of all of the sky in the water's reflective surface. No polarizer needed, in this case - just risky railing-hanging. And no polarizer meant that I could keep the image bright and sharp. Link to comment
