pnital 36 Posted August 31, 2007 A summer Festival is now taking place near the sea front close to Tel-Aviv. The concept is funny , humorous, and original. Many choreographers and dancers are participating in that festival. 7 cabins with peep shows holes were built ( holes in the fabric), and in each of them dancers are performing. the audience, passeres by, will have to see it through the peeping holes....hard for photography, but I think I have some good results despite the difficulties. Some of them I have created as triptychs and diptychs , to better present the concept... Choreographer: Sally ann Fridland Link to comment
AJHingel 127 Posted September 1, 2007 Great ! Now I understand. The event must be a goldmine of possible scenes and compositions. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted September 1, 2007 Thanks Antanas, Elsi, Anders and Amal. I hope it brought a smile to your faces. Anders, Yes I'm still post processing..... you will see some more of them... Amal, I think you are an adult already... ;-)) Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted September 1, 2007 I have never seen or heard of peep shows before, sound intriguing & you chosen a original way of presenting. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted September 2, 2007 Cherlyn, peep shows are reffering usually to the sex "industry". but in this case it was used as a dance/theater project. Thanks Shuki and Mehmet, thanks both of you. Link to comment
laurent_jaussi 0 Posted September 2, 2007 I think the mix tells the whole story which is nice...I like the body attitude of the dancer left and the dress texture...the guy's looking has a funny position...I imagine how hard it could be to take a single photo that represents the idea as a whole...looking at you image for some time I think that a single image with a face through the hole top left and the dancer could be a potential shot, I am saying that with caution since sometimes it's not possible to get the PoV one would like and probably the light is difficult to get a large enough doF for a single shot with both... pnital 36 Posted September 2, 2007 Laurent, thanks, but it is two photos combind, in order to give the viewer the impression of the project, and therefor I combine two or even 3 photos together.... anyway your idea will be I think, very hard to implement.... but thanks for offering it, might be for the future. Guest Guest Posted September 2, 2007 A wonderfully creative combination of photos. I'd almost prefer it without the explanation, which would let my mind wander, and wander it would! However, I understand your wanting to let us know what you are doing and what you've been seeing. The perspective on the dancer is great. It is and intriguing angle. Not only is the subject a dancer, but you've have executed this in a dancelike manner. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted September 3, 2007 Jim, I'm glad it brought a smile to your face! Thanks Fred, Thanks for wandering with your imagination, It was so different from all the dancing photography that I did till now,and I thought that not each of the viewers will undestand the concept.....( and I was right) so I explained it a bit. but each with his imagination and hints will compose his own story.... inoneeye 8,643 Posted September 5, 2007 Hi pnina, when i was through peeping on you (your portfolio, past comments, etc.) i gravitated to this image and was ready to make an observation, when alas one of the last things i read answered my observation. "It was so different from all the dancing photography that I did till now". I intended to say that it appears to be a new direction. I must say it has a unique energy . The combining of imagery works well to tell the story. the sum of the parts is indeed greater. I like it very much, conceptually and left unexplained it would still rise to the occasion. very well seen. josh Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted September 5, 2007 I was wondering how you pulled this off until I read your answering comment to Laurent. Creative souls seem to always find new angles (even if it's through a peephole). Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted September 5, 2007 The some of the parts is what was my thoughts as well, as the right way to present the concept and its significance, as a shifting to irony/art from the connotation, peeping will evok in many viewers... Thanks for "peeping" on me/my/work and expressing your point of view so nice and extensively. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted September 5, 2007 David, and Linda, thanks for both your feedback on them. Jack, talking about art and imagination ..;-)) you know what my thoughts are!! Link to comment
