aepelbacher 0 Posted August 29, 2007 Another portrait from Africa. I can't really go back and re-shoot any, so I know that photographically, they leave something to be desired. But I love the beautiful smiles these women live out in their lives and show in these photos.I have 2312 photos from two weeks spent there. I actually could easily have taken more, but I was actually working as a volunteer, so I didn't have a lot of time to use my camera. :-) Anyway, I thought I'd start with some photos of the women I worked with. The organization is called Amani ya Juu, which in Swahili means, "Higher Peace". It is a reconciliation project, teaching marginalized women to sew so that they can have a trade and thus support themselves and their families.I didn't get this gal's name ... she worked with one of the other "Rose"'s that I uploaded previously (with the white cap). Needless to say, she's also one of the ladies that I didn't have a chance to get to know well enough.Photographically, I am not at all satisfied with the level of detail ... I was foolishly using a huge aperture on these portraits and some of them suffered for it. But I wanted to post it because she's another one of the beautiful ladies who I met in Africa.I will look forward to hearing from you..... :-) Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted August 29, 2007 Lou Ann, sounds like you had an enjoyable trip & took lots of images. This appears a little under-exposed, maybe a fill flash would have helped. She does have a beautiful smile :) I played a little to lighten this up. Definitely worth playing with :) Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted August 29, 2007 You're SO right! I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Jayme - you're always welcome to come and play over here. :-) Regards! Link to comment
rkynast 1 Posted August 29, 2007 Hi Lou Ann - I see Jayme beat me to it - my first comment was going to be that this is too dark and needs more light. Glad to hear that you had a good time. Link to comment
