snapshooter 0 Posted August 29, 2007 Very nicely done, Limda. Good diagonals and curves, capped of with a great sky. I do find the guard rail distracting, but that's just me. Can't handle anything modern in a pure natural setting. Link to comment
ldavidson 4 Posted August 29, 2007 Hi Doug, Whether to keep this or toss it because of the road was something I thought about. I have done a few shots lately that have roads in them, something I'm not always sure about. I know that many photographers don't like to see a landscape touched by humans. With this one I decided I liked the line as it cuts across the hill, it draws the eye into the scene. You didn't ask, but you may wonder if this is HDR. No, I just played with it in Photoshop. I did a few layers at various exposures, and a bit of dodge and burn to accent the clouds. I appreciate your comments and advice. Thanks. Warm regards, Linda Link to comment

snapshooter 0 Posted September 13, 2007 Hi Linda. Just got back from a whirlwind trip to Big Bend, Texas... and then up to Minnisota to visit my brother.I'm not a " no hand of man" advocate. I just liked the sculptured dueling diagonals split by the horizontal lake line, and the road kept distracting me. I should say "the road where it breaks the border". Just personal preferences though. As for the sky, I'm so used to you having spectacular skies, I really never thought of HDR, but it does have the great tonal range. You must have spent some time on it. ldavidson 4 Posted September 13, 2007 Doug, Welcome back! I spent a little time bringing out the contrast in the sky in Photoshop. I mainly use the dodge and burn tools on my skies. I learned how to dodge and burn back in the day when I was a student learning how to develop film and make basic B&W prints at Sheridan College. Link to comment
