Casey's Feathers

What makes this a below average image 3/3. Please.... I want to know? Please let me know what you are seeing that I am not seeing. Over-exposed? Under-exposed? Composition poor? Clarity poor. Lighting poor? Subject matter boring? Hair-lights not pleasing? What really makes this a 3/3. Could it be your monitor? This prints beautifully. Vivid colors, spot on focus on the eyes, detail in the feathers (not easy) Nice separation from the background, beautiful hair highlights.

I am truly interested. I am not angry, just interested. Maybe if I made it unbelievable with fake lights added ( I can do this, but why?) Maybe if it was a picture of a beautiful sunset with some rocks in the foreground or some landscape with some "God lights" filtering down thru the trees on some people(really cheesy in my opinion) then maybe it would be a 6/6 or a 7/7.

Instead, it's a simple portrait of a beautiful child with eyes that speak volumes.

Oh well, I'm sure I'm wasting my time. Art is definately a matter of taste. I love Art, I can distinguish real Art from hotel room Art. Capturing a classic expression with beautiful lighting was my goal.

Love the skin tones, and the light on her eyes and face and love the softness of the feathers with great white :) good white balance :)

I am not really upset, just a little disappointed at what is topping the TRP. Possibly time for me to fly off to a new site. I stayed while most left. I had hope. I enjoy looking, but having to wade through hundreds of images to find one outstanding is getting a little tedious. I am, like most of us old members, not doing a lot of rating of images through the "rate images" option. It's just too boring & too time consuming.

Biliana I now have my own website, I may just quit posting altogether on PN. I hate to do it, but things just don't change. The mate raters, the snipers, they remain the same. Somehow, PN needs to make rating a privilege one earns, not learns. I feel sure someone out there has a super idea, but at present it truly sucks.

Beautiful composition and light. Congrats ! BTW: I don't like PS either; you have to see the final picture before taking it... My work is 99% unprocessed. You have a mate here ;)
