mvisionphotography 1 Posted August 22, 2007 How do YOU talk to them? I would love to hear what you think and feel. This new generation have LOTS of things to say. ARE WE LISTENING? Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted August 22, 2007 Micki, You scare me. We're at war with a willful 2 year-old. How am I going to deal with a 14 year-old? When I worked with adolescents, the running joke was that a 14 year-old girl was the most difficult of any age. Courage..... If you do figure out how to talk to her, write a book and send me the link.... Oh, by the way, I like the way you did this photo. One picture wouldn't capture the many, stormy moods of an adolescent. mvisionphotography 1 Posted August 22, 2007 The deal was she got to take photo's of me with my new NIKON and then I got to take photo's of her. She is dramatic and an actress and just started school and so she just started off in dream land and she started doing this as I took pictures while I was on the bed. This is what we do anyway and I just clicked away. Here is another picture photograph story thing I did of her. She is of course ALL over my portfolio like a little actress she is. A fairy one moment and a little manipulation the next. BUT these two pictures are the REAL her. Thank you for seeing and understanding the REAL her and GOOD luck with yours! :) Link to comment
jim craig 0 Posted August 22, 2007 Interesting series Micki, moody and a good choice to use B/W. A couple in my country gave birth to identical quadruplet girls this week. My first thought was, "Gawd, they're all going to be 14 at the same time!" regards, Link to comment
lesa jones 0 Posted August 22, 2007 Ha...another GREAT one...so typical!! BTW... the flag blowing in the breeze that I recently posted was taken at Crabs restaraunt ther on P'Cola beach. Would luv to meet up with you or you and hubby for a "shoot". Get real familiar with that camera, he is going to be busy for awhile with the studies. Regards....LJ Link to comment

mvisionphotography 1 Posted August 23, 2007 She is animated as it comes. In these pictures they were real emotions as you can see through these pictures how the photos progressed. There are some smiles in there. Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted August 25, 2007 Got your email and happy to respond. Unadorned critique here as requested. The reason I skipped over this was because I, like you (except in rare situations) don't like flash. I find these on the harsh side. They also seem a bit self conscious, like you were trying hard. The hands tell me of the angst of adolescence, the separation this age group feels from the rest of us. But, too obvious/staged in my opinion. The top left would be my choice to go with. I read her expression in her eyes, lips, the tilt of her head, the implied hand on her head. In that case, less is more and her face alone conveys what her hands are attempting to do in the other shots. But that flash shadow under her chin is a real spoiler, also the thick blackness of hair. The other 3 feel kind of set up and more about what you thought would work than what really transpires between you two. The bottom right feels too much like you or she were thinking about the cupped hands and so the pose doesn't feel natural. I want to tell you that, when I got my new camera (had been using a point and shoot for three years) I didn't get a photo I was happy with for several weeks at least. I just didn't feel at home with that thing for a while. Now it's much more second nature. So don't expect too much right away. It makes sense that you can't concentrate your creative energies where you want to when you're worried about what button does what and how do I do this thing that I want to do that I used to know how to do but now I don't 'cause I have a new machine in front of my eye. (That last sentence was written in my best Micki tone-of-keyboard just for fun!) You're not sorry you asked, are you?! --Tough Love Fred. P.S. The set you posted right after Jeff's comments seem a different world than these. Much more natural and reach me more personally. Strangely in that set, too, the top left is my favorite. mvisionphotography 1 Posted August 25, 2007 See, the set that I posted for JEFF is something I took of her when she was not caring. Her being her and me taking the pictures after I came home and the car wreck. She couldn't say no and she wasn't being "T K " the dramatic actress. THESE pictures are HER being the DRAMA QUEEN not being totally herself. The one I posted after this is more how I see her. I can hardly EVER get her who she really is. It drives me absolutely crazy since she is a total drama person. Like on stage singing REAL drama person. SO, I don't get her being her. I told her nothing. All of this was her. We really did just talk and this was her and I just clicked. But you are absolutely right she was still acting for the camera (like a B movie) HA But, I will get the chance to do it again. HA I live with her and she HAS to let me do it because she is all I have to work with. YEP! I had a feeling you would say this. Just needed to get you to say it on paper so the NEXT time I do it. I can go SEE, I did improve some ;) ~ he he Well, off to go bug her! YEAH! ~ thanks Link to comment
