My first attempt at faking the effect of shooting with a Holga. Any

suggestions for improvement greatly appreciated, thanks for your time.

I love the interesting perspective on this. I'm hoping (for your sake) this wasn't a male dog with a full bladder ;-)

Congratulations on a 7 Gordon! You have earned it! Maggie is bliss personified! The sky compliments her as it seems to complete the expansion of her wonderful energy. I love the creativity of this one. The only thing better would have been a shot of you getting this shot. I guess it's way to much to ask if you got one with her tail in it or not? Just to add to the curve? Another tough exposure fantastic DOF! You rock! ~Mary~

Mark: this one is of Maggie so no worries there !

Mary: I did not get a shot with the tail although this would certainly add to the shot, these Pyrs. do have wonderful full fluffy tails ! I was lying on the deck and shot at the widest possible angle.... maybe next time.

Regardless of whatever effect you were going for, I consider this one of the best of your dog photographs.

I love the curve of Maggie's body which leads the viewer's eye through the photo. The upward-looking wide angle p.o.v. is really interesting. The break in the clouds is a really good detail. I've tried similar shots, but they've not worked as well as this one does (which is why no one has ever seen them!).

This image flows.

It has all been said and it is the best and most creative dog shot that I have seen. Woof! Woof. 6/7

Tony;

Thanks, glad you liked this one.

Carlos;

Thanks, Yeah I've been hooked on Pyrs. since the first time I saw one many decades ago. An ancient and regal breed, with a gentle temperament and a no nonsense approach to life.

what else can one ask of a friend Gordon, but a gentle temperament and a no nonsense approach to life... I wonder if the Obama's considered a Pyrenee '-)... They are really beautiful, splendid dogs... In the right circumstances I would not hesitate

About the picture: I didn't notice the shot was an holga 'fake' It does have the holga 'feeling' but with more technical sophistication than what the holga offers. But it is the interesting angle that really makes the shot.

True enough! We live in the country and have plenty of room outdoors so this is good turf for Pyrs.

I was going for the feel of a Holga however you are of course correct about the technical aspects. For starters this one is not even the proper aspect ratio. I tried to block up the shadows, loose some sharpness and generally try to make a fairly decent 10 - 22 mm Canon lens take a bad image. I later moved on to hacking cheap lenses out of plastic cameras and gluing them onto body caps for the 40D. I took this shot lying on my back on our back deck.

Wow a pet picture that has some imagination put into it great shot it's really unusual, i was going to give you 6/7 but as you risked the pooch cocking it's leg for a pee it's going to be 7/7.

Simon:

Maggie is more into squatting than cocking so I may not be worthy of that extra point :-)
