I really enjoy the personification of the swallows you have photographed. It's almost as if each wide mouthed chick has its own personality, it reminds me a bit of the 7 dwarfs of snow white.

I also appreciate the use of color and the graphic shape that the bird's form create.

My only critisim would be that the hard shaddow behind the bird's heads are a little distracting. Have you thought about softening or removing it all together in Photoshop?

Great composition and perfect timing!! Nice fill light also!! Call it "The Jackson Five" or "Say AHHHHHH" or "Simon Says Open your Beak" nah that one isn't as good! I'll get back to you later with another one!

This has an almost cartoon like quality with those mouths opened so wide on thies youngsters. I can almost hear the din thies birds are making. I agree about the shaddow in the back of the head. This has such good humor and the composition is so nice.

They made me think of a barbershop quartet, but since there are five, how about a quintet? :) I love that they all have their beaks open and that each head is at a different height. What a wonderful capture! Nice, Bente!

An incredible shot Bente. But I wonder, how were you able to get this response? Have you imprinted on them as their mother? or did you bribe each of them with a fat juicy worm after the shot?

Jess .... thank you so much for taking your time. I can tell you when I presented this one here on a Danish photo side some of teh commentators also got to think of the seven dwarfs - even there is only five here - and I can very well see why. As you say it looks like they each have there own personality.

I agree with you in the shaddow. I have not been working with it but maybe I should give it a try.

Matthew ... I was thinking of "The Jackson Five" too and a big LOL to "Simon says". In a matter of fact I had several titles on my mind so therefore I thought i could be fun to hear yours too. Thanks for commenting.

Vincent ... yes, they look a little like a cartoon. Glad you like it and you're right about the shaddow.

Vladimir ... Tax collectors - ha, you're so right. They reacted on every sound/noise (flashlight) and they never seamed to get enough. Thanks for commenting here.

Les ... I too got to think of a barbershop quartet, so from now on it's barbershop quintet. Glad you commented here Les ... always a pleasure.

Christian .... glad you took time to comment here and glad you like it. Thanks

Al ... aaaahhh - they were quite noisy when they said aaaahhh - smile. Thanks for your nice comment.

Donna ... you have made so many great bird photos so it means a lot to have you commenting this one. Thank you for that. How I made them all open their beaks at the same time? He he ... I told them I would let the cats come out on the balcony ( they were nestling beneith the roof of the balcony outside the bedroom). Truth is they reacted on everything moving/making noise and they also reacted on the flash so I pushed the trigger twice - first time to activate them and second time to get them with open beaks. Underhand?

some I think - smile - but I got my photo ... together with 200 other photos of them.

Michael ... thank you. You know very well the saying " Just one swallow doesn't make the summer" but as you know 5 + 2 didn't make a nice summer too. The swallows had chicks in the most rainy days.

David ... thanks for stopping by and glad you like it.

This is an incredible capture. You've got to be able to win a contest with this one. And the detail and color are great, too.
