marcadamus 1 Posted August 18, 2007 I captured this image while camped off trail in one of my favoriteareas of the Oregon Cascades. The mountain mist rolled in just as thesun arose and illuminated the high peaks above, a fortunate occuranceto say the least, which brought a surreal, dreamy atmosphere to thelandscape complimented by the finest display of wildflowers I haveseen this year. sketch_tbhotmail.com 11 Posted August 18, 2007 This is a great photo Marc, the mist adds a surreal feel to an extrodinary landscape. The wildflowers look fabulous, I love the punch of colours. Ry Link to comment
mtpeke 0 Posted August 18, 2007 I absolutely love this shot! Not a thing I would change. You sure did capture a magical moment in time. Great job! Link to comment
bradford 0 Posted August 18, 2007 Marc- This is really great. Great mix of lighting, contrast, and subject matter near to far. The shot would've been nice w/o the mist, but here it provides a surreal effect that doesn't look like a filter. The clarity on the flowers in the foreground is nice and everything looks vibrant w/o being oversaturated. Nice outline of the mts. against the skyline too. I think this is as close to what you saw when you were there, correct? Link to comment
marcadamus 1 Posted August 18, 2007 This is very close to what I saw, Brad. The image is very close to the original RAW file except some minor color tweaks. The sky is a bit darker due to the grad, but I like it that way. Thank you for taking the time to comment. Link to comment
nicolerenee 0 Posted August 19, 2007 I hope it wouldn't offend you if I said that you make me sick? :) Stunning shot, you put out consistantly high quality everything. Very dreamy, the skylined of the mountains is almost surreal. Great shot. Link to comment
whydangle 0 Posted August 20, 2007 Its definitely surreal! Great work Marc. This is a one of a kind scene. The colors of the flowers are outrageous, the craggy mountains bathed in alpenglow, diffused by the misty fog. So many strong elements tied together in one capture. You are so connected, you probably don't even need an alarm clock. Link to comment
stuart_williams 0 Posted August 20, 2007 as ever, but there seems to be a slight halo around the peaks ... otherwise excellent. Marc - thanks for reply - yes, I see it now. the vignetting (if there's such a word) gives the halo effect towards the sides. "as ever" should be read: "excellent, as ever ..." Link to comment
marcadamus 1 Posted August 20, 2007 Stuart - as ever, I have applied a slight vignette to the image. The edges of the peak remain untouched, however. Link to comment
amirali 1 Posted August 21, 2007 Dear Mark , I always like your photos, but I do not like the effect on this one , maybe it was cloudy or something , but I like your previous photos better. Link to comment

jeremy jackson 0 Posted December 24, 2009 Hi Marc, I really think this is special for two reasons. I'd be interested in your thoughts. First, I just think the situation is incredible. I have spent a great deal of time outdoors and never seen anything like this. Second, the placement of the yellow flowers is interesting to me. I wonder, was this forced by the position of the other flowers or did you purposefully put the yellow flowers in the left corner? If you did, I think that is the really brilliant thing about this composition. I would probably not have done this because I might have thought that it would take away from the symmetry of the image. But I would have been wrong because, at least to me, it works wonderfully. As always, it's a great pleasure to follow your work. All the best, Jeremy Link to comment
john_bloggs 0 Posted September 3, 2010 The edges of the peak are unnatural and exhibit sharpening halos. They are a pain to remove but with the amount of PS work already, a little more wouldn't go astray.. Link to comment
marcadamus 1 Posted September 6, 2010 Why make the same comment about 30 of my photos, John, when I can't see it and no one else has any idea what you're seeing. Web compression is a fact of life and so is sharpening for web. I suggest you just deal with it. Link to comment
