Hi Jan: I am also a novice in macro. But I think I can help you. Your DOF is too little. Only one eye is in focus. You should try using a small f like f 13 or smaller. Take a look at the macros in my portfolio. They were taken with f22. I will be buying a flash for Macro. I hope it helps
