Thanks Stuart. I don't know how lucky the trout are, as they often wind up in the frying pan. I, on the other hand, do in fact live a blessed life.

Hi,

Thanks again for your thoughts on my pic.

This is a truly beautiful image. For me, It's the lines that you have created with the slow shutter speed and the colours that really draw my attention here. I think the softness of this image is allowing me to sit, and just look and appreciate for quite some time, and, i have been looking for a while now.

Keep them coming, i think i could learn a lot from your skill with abstract and motion blur.

Take care.

Shayne

Color for the pure sake of color, implied motion to let the mind fly, brushstrokes of light, "out-of-the-box" creativity, beyond a photo to ART, colors of renewal.....just doing a little free thinking about your image Gordon.

I like the way you think :)... I too enjoy putting my thoughts and reactions to images out there is a kind of free association, stream of consciousness way. I think this is a liberating way to try and jump the divide between what our visual cortex "sees" and our mind "thinks" about an image. If that makes any sense? At any rate I am always glad to discover that you have been meandering around amongst my photos and leaving behind you responses...thanks.

I react "emotionally" to an image more than just seeing or reacting with an "oh that's nice" response.....some photos just make me "feel" something or they allow me to create a story in my mind and often that story changes with a renewed viewing. I'd love to purchase a print of this?

I am currently in the process of comparison shopping for a decent photo printer, in the hopes of trying to flog some of my stuff to the wealthy tourists who invade my neck of the woods every summer. I'm sure we could work something out. There are a number of your photographs I would be really happy to hang on my wall ( your flowers growing in parched earth comes to mind, although I'm certain there are others) so maybe we can work out a barter? Feel free to drop me an e-mail regarding any of this if you feel inclined.

Just a suggestion for a printer......I have the Epson R1800, it will print upto a sheet 13" wide by about any lenght you want, and I really like the results I get with this printer. Of the major name brands of printers: HP, Canon, Epson etc., I prefer the Epson's.

Thanks for the suggestion. I drive myself crazy reading reviews and trying to decide. I keep hoping if I procrastinate long enough someone will come up with a printer that does exactly what I want. The R1800 sounds like a very good printer. I like the fact that unlike the R2400 it has both blacks in the printer at once without a need to swap out cartridges to go from glossy to matte. What I do not like about the R1800 is the fact it won't handle heavy materials. I would like a printer that can handle canvas as I think some of my shots would look good printed on this. If they put another cartridge in the R2400 carriage I would not have to think about it, however I have heard that you waste a lot of ink purging the lines when you change blacks. The HP B9180 ( what a stupid name for a printer ) is supposed to be very good, it will handle thick stock up to 1.5mm and does an excellent job with B&W ,which is also important to me. However it does not have a roll paper capacity so panoramas are out, as is the price break of roll paper. It all makes my head hurt:) Once the Xmas shopping mania has passed I will head off to the big city and try to make a decision. Bottom line Susan; when I have something to print with, I will not forget that you had asked for a print of this one.

Good luck printer shopping......when I want to make a major "photographic" purchase I drive myself nuts trying to decide "what, when, where, why, whom....", by the time I made up my mind to buy the Canon 20D it's predecessor was already on the market.

I was wandering through your portfolio and this one caught my eye. It is simply beautiful. Wonderful colors and lines. I really like it. Nicely done.

As an aside (and it is probably too late to be useful), I have been using an Epson R2400 for a while. It makes nice prints when you get the settings right. According to Epson (should I believe them?) the K3 inks are reasonably archival.

I am alway honoured to find you " wandering " through my stuff. I am fond of this one myself.

Thanks for the input regarding printers I have yet to commit to buying one so your advice is helpful. I hear lots of good reviews for the R2400 and the K3 inks. I do like the extra shadow detail achievable with glossy paper and swapping out the two blacks sounds expensive. Of course I could be making more of a deal about this than I should. I have read a very good review of the HP printer on the Luminous Landscape which suggests the HP is better built and the inks are as stable as the K3 inks. In the end I'm sure they are both good. I do wish I actually knew someone who was using the HP printer.
