I really like the angle you chose. It seems the boy is looking at the camera. The statue looks very real from that viewpoint.

Jeff, what an interesting shot (and you called mine gruesome). The light here is superb, and I love the texture of the stonework. This evokes the Irish (or other) famine, with a mother wondering how she will provide for her desperate child. I would love to know what this comemmorates.

Thanks for stopping by. Roger, this is a statue in the courtyard at the McNay Art Museum in San Antonio. I believe this depicts a depression era mother. This is a film capture from years ago, revived for the song title.

Great angle. Strong and emotional composition. The child's eyes are so expressive in their plead for help.

Jeff, I could not leave this one!It is such a strong emotional impact and vision of the sculpture! who is he do you know? you have cropped it in a perfect angle, and the light is so good. I like the stone texture and color, great image not only for the theme but in general, thanks for sharing.

A very emotional & touching statue. The artist must have encounter wartime to be able to carve something like that.

I tried to research the name of the artist, but it's been about five years since I've been to the McNay and it's not listed on their website. I took many, many pics of this statue over time, which always haunted me. I thought it depicted well the feeling of anyone having to parent through adversity and needing to look away for a moment from the suffering of one's child before continuing on.

This really is amazing. I love it. The colour, composition, texture, and cropping are all perfect. This is one of my favorites.

my compliments. i find it difficult to look at a statue a breathe life into the cold stone artistically. the angle you have chosen and the crop are fresh. powerful work by the original artist then a great interpretation by you. the weathering really adds to the distressed feeling. a sad reality.

thanks for stopping by my space. i really appriciate your support. its been a long day, i'll catch up with your new stuff tomorrow my friend. take care, J.K.

The perspective you've chosen for this image is so compelling and poignant. It has a very haunting quality that has me being very reflective about what's going on in other parts of the world, truly an image that "speaks" a thousand words.
