katzpjs 50 Posted August 5, 2007 I think the crop is much too close to the subject and the image is too dark. My suggestion for this one: Try again. Link to comment
dave_dube 10 Posted August 7, 2007 Well Shawn, the ratings to this point have a combined value of 11 so there must be value after metal. I'm confused as to why you state that I should 'try again'? It's exactly what I wanted it to be and wanted to see if there were folks that appreciated this look. You may not like it but others do like it. I'm always attempting to test the market and boundaries of Post processing. Link to comment
katzpjs 50 Posted August 7, 2007 This morning I'm seeing this under much different lighting conditions in my house and it looks much different that it did the first time I saw it. I can see much more detail that I did earlier, so I retract my comment about being too dark. I still think the crop is too tight but that is my personal opinion about how it should be done. dave_dube 10 Posted August 7, 2007 Shawn, I was really OK with your original comments. I'm still trying to learn and grow with a 'look' other than just photos.I also agree with the crop but the stuff to the viewers right was too distracting for the 'look'. Wish I had one alone that I could of had with a looser fit. Thanks for commenting, Dave Link to comment
susan stone 0 Posted August 10, 2007 The thumbnail does look dark but when enlarged the light really shines on the petals of the Lilly, I think you were going for that "dark Victorian" look and the background helps imply that impression. I'd like to see a little more of the whole image too though, the petal hanging off to the side makes me curious to see the rest of the flower, and maybe in this case "less is better". There's some interesting affects going on with the part of the flower to the bottom, it almost looks posterized. Link to comment
