We're taught early on to leave our corners dark, but this picture

doesn't work when the sky is cropped out of the upper left. It needs

that little smidgen of sky to key the viewer to the subject's

immediate environment.

You're really following your cows all day long! I've never been taught that rule, but of course it's the next thing one ponders about. I agree, no way to cut it, would change the whole secure feeling of the scenario.

Nice shot, Doug. I'm glad to see you're shooting in color. I left PN about a year ago but there's certainly some people I miss.

I miss you, too, Bob and noticed right quick that you weren't around. I'm glad to see you check in from time to time.

Doug, thanks for your comment. I miss many of the people on PN, but I don't miss the system (ratings, etc.). I'm currently posting photos here, where people actually critique/comment on photos: http://www.flickr.com/people/80269053@N00/

I'm in two critique groups there . . . if you'd be interested in joining, I'd be happy recommend you. You'll recognize some old PN acquaintances.

Thanks Rob, but for all its faults, photonet is still only one site to check in on. I tried running two sites a while ago, photonet and photopoints, but got tired of having to do everything twice. (I'm lazy, what can I say?)

My summer is pretty much over now, anyway, and I'm already short on time for Internet photo sites. Not that I won't stop shooting, just that posting and following up is too time consuming. But, like you, I miss the community as my social circles are not at all photographically inclined.
