Leonard-just-Leonard 8 Posted August 3, 2007 after reviewing the many shots I took that day, this one seemed the one to print and frame. Link to comment
macrophotography 0 Posted August 3, 2007 Great place - and nice photo. This lake must be cold. You have good colours here, interesting composition (a little bit unusuall). Link to comment
paullink 1 Posted August 3, 2007 The beautiful blue shades of the small iceberg give a pleasant note to the earthly environment in the lake.Nice photo, very proper for the hot Summer.Best regards Link to comment
Leonard-just-Leonard 8 Posted August 4, 2007 Thank you for the kind comments. Photo.net has helped me learn a lot about photography with the ratings system that draws so much ire, and the comments make me take a critical eye to my posted pictures. Other versions of this lake that were rated and critiqued made me look at overexposure, hot spots, composition and so on enabling me to realize what works and what does not. I have many more mountain hikes planned and hopefully I see other photo worthy places to post. Link to comment
sacha_de_carlo 0 Posted August 28, 2007 The horizon is slightly tilted but it's a very good composition, really like it and the colors! Cheers, Sacha Link to comment
Christal1664882414 0 Posted May 9, 2008 I like the colors, clarity and composition of this one.....it's my favorite of your similar shots. Well conceived! Link to comment
mark_scwarz 0 Posted July 13, 2008 This is definitely the best of your similar shots. A nice pattern of the rocks in the foreground and a quite interesting piece of ice in the middle. Which actually points out one of the not too many problems of the composition. The ice block is right in the middle, the center of the image - that really is a pity. Just like the dull background. Either some post processing (blurring), or cropping could add to it. I see you don't really post process your photos, which I find respectable, but, on the other hand, processing is what makes the difference between a flat digital camera shot and a picture. I played aorund with this shot a little. I'm attaching my recropped version - just why not. Tell me whether you agree or disagree with my opinion. Link to comment
Leonard-just-Leonard 8 Posted July 13, 2008 Marc. Quite frankly I disagree, except for the part this is the best of the series ;) This shot is on display and for sale at the local museum store and another local gallery. I placed it dead centre to show the trailing and leading ends of the 'berg and included the bright colored rocks in the foreground as a leading contrast point. If you're in the mood for more critiquing here is one other shot I would appreciate your2 cents worth on. http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=6932052 thanks Link to comment
mark_scwarz 0 Posted July 13, 2008 The fact that it's on sale is just one side of the story. Has a single copy of it ever been sold? :) Just kidding. OK, we do not have to agree. Btw the fact that it's on sale doesn't change my opinion at all - should that be taken as a reason anyway? (Just to make things clear, I hope you're not taking it to the heart. I see you like taking pictures and experimenting - and that's what counts. Btw I just commented at your first shot because I'd never give a 3 or 4 rating without leaving some constructive remarks. A lot here are doing that. Reassure me you're not one of those *?%'s.) I'll go and check the one you've just mentioned. Link to comment
mark_scwarz 0 Posted July 14, 2008 Why isn't this one your favourite? http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=6182985 I think it has a better cropping, a bit more interesting background and less of the dull background. I believe that one is a bit more properly composed. Link to comment
Leonard-just-Leonard 8 Posted July 14, 2008 the highlights are blown out on the bottom left corner rock and there is a weird purple reflection across the entire front foreground. however it is my second favourite and hanging on the wall beside me now. it lost out on technical merit I just bought a digital camera about a month before and took over 150 shots of this lake from every conceivable angle. it was fun and a good education on what a point and shoot digital can do.
