davidmccracken 2 Posted August 2, 2007 Perhaps too abstract for some! Feedback appreciated. Link to comment
bernie moore 6 Posted August 2, 2007 David, I don't like abstracts very much, but there is something pleasing to the eye with this one. Color? Balance? I'm not sure, but well done anyway. Regards, Bernie Link to comment

godfather 0 Posted August 3, 2007 Really pleasent and simple abstract. "Simple" ideas gives always nice pictures, like this one... and no, not too abstract for my taste :) Link to comment
mvisionphotography 1 Posted August 3, 2007 I like the way the three circles (perfect circles of light) make a fourth circle through a triangle right in the middle at the base of it. It is as if it is understood that the camera knew geometry and that it would make that fourth (only seen when scrolled in as it barely there) circle as a hidden treasure. I love the fade towards the top. I only wish the dark item was not in it but that does give it a wild feeling to the picture and if it wasn't there then the contrast of the picture would be boring. hmmm The picture would look fantastic poster size. It grows on you. I am glad you posted it as it is a great conversation piece. Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted August 4, 2007 Nadia, I am glad you like this. Bernie, Sometimes we don't know why we like things. Sometimes I don't know why I take them. Thanks anyway! Afshin, Sometimes luck plays a huge part. I just happened to be there. Thanks! Tero, This is not too abstract for me either but then I do know what I am looking at. I wonder how many others actually know. Thanks a lot. Micki, I don't know about perfect cirlcles of light. The main one most certainly isn't. As for the fourth circle. I am more than a little lost. As for the camera knowing the geometry... well! I am glad something or someone does. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 5, 2007 I see what could be a fourth circle...the darkest one at sort of bottom left. It just isn't as well defined as the other three. As far as the image, itself, goes...it's ambiguous to me...open to interpretation. That's it's appeal for me. But I'll have to be honest and say that while I applaud your experimentation, the image's appeal to me, as a whole, is sort of limited. I don't mean that to sound harsh. What I mean is while I might sit and stare at this image, my attention would wander after x-number of minutes. Sort of like gazing into a fireplace on a winter's night, you know? The image would become a mental background, rather than the focus of my thoughts. Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted August 6, 2007 Perhaps you and Micki visit the same tobacconist. I am not sure! Harsh comments are welcome. After all, I am posting images here to gauge their appeal. FWIW I actually like this one myself but I can well understand why it is not to everyones' taste. That said, I am glad the image was strong enough to make you look at it for a few minutes. Thanks Jim! Link to comment
