I'm back from Africa. I have 2312 photos from two weeks. I actually could easily have taken more, but I was actually working as a volunteer, so I didn't have a lot of time to use my camera. :-) Anyway, I thought I'd start with some photos of the women I worked with. The organization is called Amani ya Juu, which in Swahili means, "Higher Peace". It is a reconciliation project, teaching marginalized women to sew so that they can have a trade and thus support themselves and their families.

Elizabeth takes care of several family members in a very small home. We had the privilege of visiting her home. She is a joyful hostess ... was beaming from ear to ear the entire time we spent in her home. Her gift is truly the gift of hospitality.

Photographically, do you think that the hot spots on her skin are too hot? Exposure of her skin? DOF? Any other thoughts?

I'm anxious to hear from you..... :-)

I know, you are moving... but Still, we have covered the same ground.

WOW.... 2312 photos from two weeks, I thought I was bad!-)

The Photo was good, The eyes are clear, the hot spots are not blown out, but the completion is a bit uneven. I have this trouble to with dark completions. I might have changed positions you even out the background.

Look forward to seeing more.

Regards,

John

LOU Ann, I think that this is the better one, the skin tone is nice, I know how hard it is to photo black skin, needs practice, WAIT TO SEE MORE!

Thank you for your comments, Pnina! (Here and on the other site!) I am SO biased when I look at these images because these ladies who I spent time with were SO special, and their smiles are SO genuine and the women are so full of love and joy. If you heard some of their stories, you would be amazed. Yes, I will be adding more ... soonish! :-) Warm regards.
