katherineerickson 0 Posted July 29, 2007 The colorful flower draws your eye in and then you see the little bird. Very nice shot. It really draws one in. Good eye! Regards Katherine Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted July 31, 2007 Major point: This is unpretentious & totally natural. How much did you pay this little guy? :) I love the texture of the flower. Pure entertainment to view. Minor point: A darker frame would compete less with the contents within the frame. Link to comment
dave_dube 10 Posted July 31, 2007 Everyone: Thank you so much for your comments. It was a struggle for me to go out and take some photos on this day. I was actually out to see if there were any Butterflies around but I know my residential hummers so well, I couldn't resist and nether could she. This is a 2nd year resident, you wonder how I know right. We have flower gardens around a couple of our sitting areas. Between being out there reading and just observing or dead heading and observing, you learn their habits and their markings.Arthur, I didn't want to single anyone out because I really appreciate each and every comment but ~ more than 90% of the time I place a black border. The only reason I did something different was because I thought folks might be getting bored. So much for boredom. I should listen to my own inner thoughts - thanks! Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted August 1, 2007 Nice capture! I just filled my humming bird feeder, no luck yet :) Had one stuck in my garage last year. Took us 2 days to get him out :) Link to comment
dave_dube 10 Posted August 1, 2007 Thanks Daniel and Jayme!Jayme, if we leave our garage door open they are constantly flying in and checking out the red pull handle hanging down from the rope (garage door release). We start feeding in March, have 2 feeders out and have to refill both on a daily basis. Even though we have many flowers and bugs that they like, that only draws more hummers. Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted August 2, 2007 I never thought of the red release as a humming bird draw, but it only makes sense. For the life of me I could not figure out what was attracting him :0 Now I know :) Link to comment
