Thanks Jamie....

Ken, if you drink wine, you really need to head up Route 66 and try a couple of the wineries...We had a good time last weekend..

Dennis, this reminds me of the clear-cuttings I've stumbled upon in various explorations. Environmental groups complain about destructive uses of land UNTIL they need new homes, suddenly as the land is cleared and smoothed to make way for the manicured lawns and homes it is OK to level it. I'm glad you didn't do that.

I really like the color of the sunset. I wish you had more light on the land in that shot.

Other than around the house, we've left everything natural. Of the 10 acres, we've impacted about one-two acres... That's what's nice about out here so far, the homes that are being built aren't stripping the land of the natural surroundings....much... This area is the western edge of an old growth forest called the Crosstimbers... Washington Irving camped just down the road from us back in the early 1800's...

THE THEME: Nice angle on the theme, with a personal touch!

VISUALLY: I like the statement but don't care for it visually.

TECHNICALLY: For me, the post production isn't working. I would like to see something other than just a thin black line holding them together. Both are clean shots but not working together. When you do a before and after, they should really match up enough to flow. This would better if you had taken the second shot exactly like the first. I know that there was no way you were going to cut out any of that beautiful sunset but I don't think it helps this particular case because of the comparison factor.

SUMMERY: Love the concept, not the presentation. My favorite part about this is that, while man has changed the landscape here, it has been done in harmony with nature. The after shot makes it feel as though nature has approved of mans impact here and can now relax and go back to it's beauty.

THIS is YOUR impact (MANS impact ~ YOUR impact on your land)

But I think it would have been a better affect if you would have used an area you took a picture of aobut a couple of years ago that maybe now has a really big change.

BUT then again I really really like looking at the two pictures side to side like you did.

I didn't want to go to the easier way out and go to the dump or something like that... Plus, I just hate leaving out here so I took the lasy way out and used two unposted photos of our land..

Your land is gorgeous, Dennis...I envy you that! I agree with Anthony in that I'd like to see two shots that are almost identical in lighting and perspective to really show off the difference of having the house there. Looking at the larger view definitely shows the second shot better...love the house...you did that yourself, right? If we built our own house, like we do home improvements, it would take forever! ;-p Love the sunset, but still wish for the match.

Hi Dennis. I would like to see more light in the second image. I think this presentation is probably the nicest "man's impact" we're gonna get. I think everything else has pretty much been said. So... when are you inviting me over for dinner? :)

You get down in this "neck of the woods", your welcome to come by...We'll rustle up some food and open a bottle of Okie wine....

Everything has been said - sorry for the delay getting here - I like you idea - just wish they had both been taken the same time of day. I would like to see more of the house! Great take on the title!

Dennis, I'm a succor for some nice light so I love the right hand image and I think for me this works very well as we have the left plain image with boring light. Then on the right we have what you have done to this place building a beautiful home in a lovely location with this fantastic sky.

Very well done Rich.

I commented on this the other day and then closed it without confirming it...

Its amazing how a photograph can be enhanced with good light...the shot with your house looks like the land is better with your house (which it can't be)...

Very nice location to live.
