Tyler - good stuff! I'm a sucker for deceptively simple seascapes like this. My only complaint is that the exposure feels a little muddy, there's not a ton of contrast - however, that could be compression issues. Keep shooting!

love the title and the overall feel of this. the position of the barren tree is spot perfect in its relation to the lighthouse. catching the sun in the fork of the tree is just beautiful. great burnt colors. well done. J.K.

Lucas--Thanks for the comments. As for the "muddy" appearance, that is very possibly a compression issue because to be honest, I have never sharpened a single one of my pictures, much less resharpened after resizing. So, this is how it was shot, just shrunk down. With that said, sometimes my ND grad filters will fog up so that could be another possibility, especially since I think I was stacking filters for this shot to be more ND grad effect. You sound very thoughtful and also sound like you know what you are talking about so I hope you will return to my portfolio and offer your help on other shots. I haven't been able to spend much time on here recently but I promise to make it by your portfolio and leave some thoughts as soon as I get a spare minute.

JK-I appreciate your comments....I liked the idea behind the composition and think things turned out pretty well but my only problem is that I had to use my super wide angle lens, which made the sun and the lighthouse miniature. I guess the tree is the main subject in this shot though so perhaps it can carry the picture and the small details simply compliment things. I'm enjoying having the ND grads so that I can get some detail in the sand when I'm shooting--it has opened up a lot of doors for my compositions that I have been exploring and learning to use. Before I bought them (and learned to use them) I either had to silhouette the foreground or compose without it. Once again, thanks for your kind words and thoughts--you are a very trusted opinion and it is always nice to hear from you. I promise to swing by your portfolio for comments and ratings soon...things have been busy for me and will continue to be so for the next couple months but you're one of the people I make time to check regularly, even if I don't always get to leave comments every time I stop by.

yes, without dual zone exposure control, shots like this would be impossible. i don't mind, in fact i like the wide angle because the tree is your subject and the lighthouse/sun just happen to be a nice BG. hope things are well with you my friend. take care, J.K.
