johncrosley 0 Posted November 14, 2007 The power of this photograph is not so much in its composition (and that says it is 'powerful') but in the face of the old man, his medals and the inclusion of his 'hero', Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, also in color. And the tones of this photo also are very strong, with wonderful light. I wouldn't ever change the light, even if it appears the 'white balance' trends to the warm side. Finally, there is a different photo as a crop. Imagine just making a portrait of the old man, medals and all and his photo of Lenin as a standalone. It also would make a very good photo. For a moment the guy in the center doesn't look like he belongs, until one sees the red carnations and other flowers -- red symbolizing the Revolution and the Communist Party. After all, in America we called them the 'Reds' and we had a 'Red Scare' in the '50s. Nice photo. Not rated. John (Crosley) Link to comment
