Rick--I really like your composition here and the exposure on the rocks is perfect! (not only the color, but also the great sharpness) I like the golden color up top and the white sea foam as well. The only criticism I would offer is the clouds didn't help you out very much toning the sun down--it's a tad bit on the bright side. I don't think it "ruins" the shot by any means...I still think the shot works well and is very, very good. The only point I'm making is there is a better shot out there--if a few clouds or a light haze had helped you out the viewer would see the sun more distinctly and it would probably have even scattered some more color across your sky. But, you definitely did the best you could with the day and sunset God gave you and you came away with a pleasing shot. I know from experience that it is often hard to get the perfect weather conditions to mitigate the sun's power but at the same time scatter color throughout the sky is rare--yet another photography challenge! Once again though, I'm being picky...although there is room for improvement (almost always is), this is a great shot exactly how it is.

Thanks for your comments. I fully agree. I just found this spot and intend to return to it over and over to achieve the clouds you are talking about...

i really like the clarity & colour in this photo. there is such a sense of motion in the ocean. it's breathtaking.
