gordonjb 10,860 Posted August 1, 2007 A good friend breeds Great Pyrenees Mountain dogs and this is a shot of one of the puppies. The sea of white which is the backdrop is the mother. The hand belongs to Ruth the breeder. Thanks for your time and comments Link to comment

cycler48 8 Posted August 3, 2007 What a wonderful photo. My preference would be to not have the hand there, but I don't think having it there detracts in any way. Very beautiful puppy. Some of my best friends are dogs too. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted December 13, 2008 I don't know how long this photo has been here, but I just now discovered it. How beautiful this is, and what a strong composition...simple and powerful. The colors are perfect, and the very strong diagonal lets the image flow in two directions for me...left to right and right to left...and it works both ways. The emotional content/impact is also very strong for me. Love, trust, and curiousity are all evident to me in this photograph, and it also shows the animal-human bond being formed at an early age. This is a photograph which reinforces my philosophy that a photograph does not have to be overly complicated in composition and filled with phony-arty gimmicks to be highly effective. Outstanding work, Gordon. Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted December 13, 2008 Jim; I have always like this photo for the exact reasons which you have so eloquently stated above. Thanks for that. I also concur that no amount of trickery can substitute for an image being genuine and although genuine is sometimes a hard thing to define in words, we both know it when we see it. It only takes a moment looking through your portfolio to realise your talent for capturing the genuine essence of your subjects. Link to comment
