Fly fishermen, who fish with 'dry flies' which are cast upon the water with a rod and line which does not sink, attempt to imitate real insects on which trout and other insect-eating fish feed.

Experienced fishermen feel they must try to match the type of fly that then is hatching or returning to the water after mating or feeding, in order to 'entice the trout to 'take' their 'artificial fly' -- the one with the hook in it which will enable them to 'catch' the trout (or other fish).

More experienced fishermen know that while trout often are hungry for a while for a particular insect that may be hatching, sometimes too many insects litter the water the the mostly full trout grow disinterested, their full bellies overriding their instincts to 'strike' at the flies littering the surface.

An experienced fly fisherman with savvy knows, when faced with such circumstances, to examine the flying insects littering the water, then cast an artificial 'fly' entirely different.

A trout is conditioned to 'strike' at an insect (even an artificial one), but that instinct can be overcome, such as when there are too many present.

When presented with a new opportunity, and no overriding reason 'not to strike' (such as having already eaten his/her fill of that particular fly or there being hundreds or thousands of that particular insect on the water's surface), the trout once again obeys natural instincts and strikes, and the smart fisherman is said to be 'lucky' but we know better.

The same may be said for your perspicacity in choosing a marvelously taken and colored fall foliage photograph to post in late July, when there is a dearth of 'fall foliage photographs' on Photo.net or anywhere else.

Whether from wisdom of just chance, it's a good choice.

(not rated, as outside my rating genre)

Best wishes.

Fine autumn wood plot.

With the golden shade.

Good light and tone. Perfectly well.
