Hi Ted. Great shot. I just was in northern Wisconsin and saw the loons but didn't have enough lens to get a shot like that. What lens to you use? Becky

The Baby isn't well placed. It's confused with the shadowy part of the image. It would be better if you had waited a little before the shot. Also it would be better if you crop more. There is too much useless green water around the subjects (see attachment). Ciao, Alx

OK Ted, this is a rub it in photo, right?

For me, it wouldn't matter how the photos of these birds came out. Experiencing this kind of moment, this close (200mm is close) with the chick in tow is priceless. Priceless because you experienced it in the moment.

Boy, the 2 months I spent living in Millinocket, Maine and launching the canoe just outside of Bar Harbor in the evenings ~ they are many of those special moments for sure.

A crop might be good, levels or curves might be better, whatever ~ thanks for sharing and bringing back memories. (where's the one of the chick on her back?)

Kudos to my avian shooting friend. You are posting some great stuff back to back Ted. nice low angle and super color and light in the water. it really makes the black and white of the Loon stand out. sharp and great eye contact. the baby is something special indeed. well done. J.K.

This is really beautiful Ted and you captured them at such an interesting angle. Beautiful color too.

Please do not crop this image any further. The Loon and her chick stretch beautifully from edge to edge with just enough space to the frame. The top and bottom also are just perfect, showing, or hinting at the expanse of water. I know from experience that it's hard to get the eye lit so beautifully without over exposing the rest. It's a lovely shot... Bert
