I love this kind of photograph and think you did quite a good job both in seeing it to begin with and in capturing it in a contemporary and appropriate way. I assume the low rates are due to people not being able to figure out that sometimes it's ok to have blown highlights, when it obviously supports the theme and expression of the photo. The graphic nature of the light and architecture offsetting his tall, thin, black figure in motion, is really well achieved. I'd prefer if the figure in the background weren't there, as it takes a little away from the clean graphic feel of the environment. The way the light is reflected in the floor and refracted around the beams of the ceiling is really nice. Bravo.

Thanks, Fred, i appreciate your input a lot. I hadn't even noticed the figure in the background until you mentioned it. This shot is actually a result of editing where I went through a bunch of crappy photos and found this one that i could crop and tweak out of something that was otherwise pretty useless.

 

 

as for the ratings...I don't pay attention to them anymore. This site helps me be more critical of my own work which (I think) makes me get better, but I really don't care about what most of the other PNers think.
