Tony, Looks to be some very old classical buildings surrounded by much newer modern designed structures......I never get over the clarity of IR.....Hey, maybe Hanneke will get her wish...... Is lake Como up in the mountains of northern Italy....Just curious......Jim

Well buddy, I found the city of Como and Lake Como on a map of Italy today. The northern tip of the lake is not far from the Swiss border is it. My guess is that the climate is pretty comfortable there in the summer.......Jim

Hey Tony, I've also read that near Como is where the Italian Partisans caught Mussolini and his crowd as they were trying to escape to Switzerland after he lost power.......Jim

Dongo is particularly remembered as being the background to important events at the end of the fascist period. It was here that on 28th April 1945 fascist party officials who had been trying to escape into Switzerland with Mussolini were shot by the partisans after having been captured the day before between Musso and Dongo. The locals recall that after the execution of the fascist officials the lakeside in Dongo used to become the scene of brawls and political rows at every anniversary of the 25th April between partisans who gathered to celebrate the Liberation and the fascist nostalgics who wanted to commemorate their fallen.
