marcadamus 1 Posted July 18, 2007 A rugged and barren lava field landscape beneath Oregon's South SisterPeak, complimented by this glacial stream at sunset. Thank you for comments/suggestions Link to comment
jim wrightwood 0 Posted July 18, 2007 I was just in the area. Beautiful country. Love the sky here. Wish there was just a little more shadow detail on the earth in the middle third of the photo. Great image! Link to comment

thadley 15 Posted July 18, 2007 On my monitor the image looks just fine with enough details. However, on the upper top right it seems as though some highlights were lost. If they were lost then it is an artistic question as to whether that enhances the photo by giving it a very good dynamic range and is that perfectly acceptable in that specific area of the image. Up to your usual high standards. Well done. Link to comment

anish 0 Posted July 18, 2007 Marc, Just a small observation - the light on the clouds is nicely captured, but the brightest highlights on the clouds at the far right maybe just a bit distracting as they are so close to the edge of the frame. Compositionally, the clouds' shapes work really well, but to me the very bright spot being so close to the edge of a predominantly dark image throws the balance off a bit. have you considered toning down the highlight just a little? It might be worth trying. Altogether a really nice shot. The somewhat "grainy" flow of the water complements this landscape better than a more "silky" flow (longer shutter speed) would... younes 0 Posted July 18, 2007 To be quite honest with you, I am running out of superlatives with your shots (this is why I haven't commented on the last couple!)...but you just keep blowing my mind every single time. Another brilliant demonstration of your mastery! Link to comment
camilo.margeli 1 Posted July 26, 2007 Hi Marc, I read your comments about HDR and blend in your last photo and I need to say that I'm a little bit surprised you use it. I don't think that there are any bad in this use, and I think also that each of us can chose freely what want to apply in each image. For me, the major problem with blending use is the line between the sky and the horizon, because sometimes you can find halos, unnatural light differences, etc. Also some blend images feel very unnatural, with too much saturated colors (of course is not the case of your images) Of course, if you use ND in a image like this, the mountain can appear too much dark. As I explained in our last sequence of comments, I think you have an excellent work, probably one of the best landscape portfolios of the web. Regards. Link to comment
sketch_tbhotmail.com 11 Posted December 7, 2007 Marc, I think this is my favorite photo in your portfolio, I'm really drawn to the balance between the drab and saturated colours. The shutterspeed captured the water perfectly and the rocks in the middle of the stream anchor this gem. Its amazing the lengths you go to, to capture these images. I've gotta say your dedication and skill are a humbling mix. Link to comment
