Nice pattern you caught. Really like the colours, the clash between the blues, reds and white really make this very appealing. If I had one nit it would be that the comp is a bit static. You could try with a diagonal approach where the pole stems out from one of the bottom corners. Cheers.

Younes, Thanks for your input. The original colours were faded and leaned a bit toward orange. PS saved the day. Good suggestion on the composition. I offer a revised version for your consideration. I'm probably too emotionally tied to it but for the record I prefer the original version. Let's vote on it. So far it's 1-1. Best, LM.

On second thought I say you win :-D. The original wins hands down, the second comp feels a bi cramped...

Younes, Actually the cramping could be solved through cloning since all we'd be doing is expanding the sky area around the lightstandard. If you think it'd still be inferior to the original we now have a 2-0 in favour of the original. :-) Good to have your participation. Best, LM.

Very nice abstract, interesting forms and patterns, nice color contrast. Would be interesting to try a twilight shot with the lamps just switched on

Yes Len, there is a lot of similarity between your image and mine.

I bet that even the same fixtures were used!

At the same time they are both very different views on the same subject.

What a beautiful medium photography (isn't it) is!

(forgive me my blatant disregard for proper sentences)

:-)

In this picture I like the clash between the red and the blue, while the composition is very static. In the same session as my own image I photographed red berries and blue sky (thank you B+W polarizing filter!). It makes me think more of that than this... If you make of sense some can it.

As an onlooker it makes me uncomfortable in a way, but that 's probably just me.

I mean to say that it invokes an atmosphere of 'je ne sais quoi' but it's uneasy, the feeling I get from post modern painting or music or...

Anyway, I 'd like to congratulate you on a fine collection (I especially liked your leica series).

Bart, Thanks for your enthusiastic & in-depth response. Yours is the type of interaction much sought after but all too seldom found on this site. Makes it all worth while. Photography, especially similar subjects as seen by multiple viewers, is indeed insightful, interesting, and boundary expanding. In this case the static composition was enhanced somewhat with an arguably heavy hand (or mouse-click) to compensate for the original's rather muted tones & the lack of a polarizing filter at the time. Note that more dynamic compositional approaches have already been explored. Thanks also for going the extra mile to investigate my 'Leica School' folder. That was indeed a landmark life experience for me but a subject best reserved for a more in-depth discussion (preferrably over a glass of suds or coffee) :-) Best, LM.
