regis 0 Posted July 16, 2007 It's been really difficult to find a good weather for photography in Scotland quite recently. This year's summer is certainly a very dissapointing one. There has been a rumour about it - saying it was going to be on 15 of July. Well - if that was real Summer I'd rather be a fan of other remaining seasons (if they really exist here :D). I took this photo a couple of days before. After a long time of inactivity (and a few completely hopeless trips) I was really desperate for another one. This trip scenario was (if I can say) quite usual. As the Sun sets around 22:00 it means going out about 19:00 (taking into account the driving distance to this place and safe margin for spot look around). Most of my trips are planned rather than spontaneous. I keep in mind the place location, time of a day, sun position and of course weather - if you can really depend on such forecasts in this country :D. I also check the tide level, wind direction (just to avoid sea spray covering my lenses) etc. At the end I can rely only on the tide forecast :) - because everything else is a lottery and usually my frustration grows stronger. This time, after a long period of heavy rains and completely unpredictable weather it was supposed to be quite calm in the evening. Forecasted "low level clouds" usually doesn't mean anything good, but with a small chance of light breaking up them, there can be an amazing spectacle. Luckily this time I found a light I was waiting for - and for that special moment I was ready with my cable release in my hand. PS. You may find a small triangular island on the horizon. It's Ailsa Craig - a natural reserve for many sea birds. Hope you'll like it, Piotr. Feel free to express your comments/critiques. Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted July 16, 2007 Piotr, I have to say that this is overall one of the nicest landscape/seascape photographs I've seen in a while on PN. Truly magnificent. I just love the flowers in the lower right, and the wonderful warm light over the scene. Just a brilliant composition and exposure. Superb work, my friend! Hang in there with the weather, shots like this make it worthwhile! Cheers! Chris Link to comment
dangoldman 0 Posted July 16, 2007 The light after a rain is always amazing, and this is no exception! Beautiful photo, great colors and composition. The dynamics in the clouds is great. Link to comment

regis 0 Posted July 17, 2007 Hello Thank you very much for all your comments. I'm glad you like the final result. Chris H - I pretty get used to this weather, so I'm not complaining too much :) Coming back with a single photo, that I'm happy with, makes my day :) John - there was virtually no Photoshop action here. 99% percent was done at RAW-developing stage (just a basic curves fitting, gentle exposure correction, saturation and contrast tweak - nothing really serious). I used Adobe Lightroom for that purpose. In PS I only had to remove some dust marks, add a frame, resize the photo and do the final sharpening. Hope it was helpful Link to comment
