bentes_world 0 Posted July 14, 2007 I have done a square cropping of this too. Please tell me which of the croppings you prefer. Link to comment
bentes_world 0 Posted July 14, 2007 Which cropping do you prefer ... this one or the square? Your thoughts are very welcome. Link to comment
d800e 0 Posted July 14, 2007 I love the almost monochrome effect of the muted colours with the bright orange mirrored in the flowers and the melon. The lighting and composition is wonderful and I much prefer the rectangular cropping. Thank you for sharing it with us! Link to comment

teresa.zafon 0 Posted July 14, 2007 Excellent lighting and composition, color tones are beautiful too. I prefer the rectangular cropping. I like this empty space on the right, to me it makes the whole image more balance. Very nice Bente. Link to comment
raystofberg 0 Posted July 14, 2007 Same here, I prefer the rectangle exactly for the same reason. The dark empty space adds a bit of piece and tranquility. Link to comment
jan_piller 0 Posted July 14, 2007 Really nice still life. I'm usually a big fan of square but in this instance I prefer the excess of dark in the image which the lanscape version provides. Just my 2 cents... This is beautiful! Link to comment
lbattjes 0 Posted July 24, 2007 Morning, Bente! I'm with the others on this...the rectangular crop works best...the negative space adds to this image and is missed in the square crop. Les Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted July 29, 2007 Beautiful still life Bent, the original upload has more " breathing space", but the square brings the composition closer, so each version has its merit. Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted July 30, 2007 Lovely image, well composed as is all your other still life work. This one works both ways for me, however I prefer the rectangular version. I think it benefits from the extra shadow area. The extra space allows the black lines created by the very dark shadow areas between the planks to lead the eye back to the subject. Love the pattern created by the ribs on the melon and the way the shape of the melon is echoed in the handle of the metal jug. Link to comment
home page1 0 Posted August 6, 2007 I'm also in the rectangular crowd. This is a lovely image with great light and shadows. It is one your trademark still lifes. Well done! Link to comment
