joe-tury 0 Posted July 10, 2007 Good shot Doug. The lowered glasses gives him a melancholy look to me. Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted July 10, 2007 Great shot with fantastic detail. The angle and the crop are great, really giving a sense of isolation. I also like the how the angle of the flute and his glasses match, with the great perpendicular of his eyeglass cord. Really well done. Link to comment
bob_belanger 1 Posted July 11, 2007 Nice detail, nice overall composition. And I think another unique take on the title. Link to comment

mvisionphotography 1 Posted July 11, 2007 Yes I agree if one can't sing they find a different voice in a different music. This is wonderful! :) Link to comment
hy 0 Posted July 11, 2007 Very nice interpretation Doug. Great expression and angle. I can almost hear the song he is playing on the flute. Best regards Link to comment

cherlyn 1 Posted July 13, 2007 Aptly interpreted, music from the flute filling many lonely ears. Good details, composition & light. Link to comment
jones1 0 Posted July 13, 2007 The way he is looking down makes this picture perfect. It looks as if he is playing for someone ill or something. Great job catching this mood. Darren Link to comment
kasey wilson 0 Posted July 14, 2007 what a distinguished looking gentleman! I like the glasses, too. and the eyebrows. :) perhaps, he himself is the lonely, and his music is singing to fill his emptiness... KW Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted July 14, 2007 Brilliant. Needs talent to capture a deep emotion. You captured it perfectly ! Congrats ! However I wonder if b/w would not have been more appropriate... Stupid nitpick... Big applause ! Link to comment
snapshooter 0 Posted July 15, 2007 Not at all, Florin. I did try various B&W renditions as I thought the same thing. I love B&W, and it was a big surprise to me when I couldn't produce more dramatic impact in greyscale. I did achieve what I thought was a more emotional shot by flopping it, as he appears to be almost crying, with the reverse angle of his eyes. Have a look. Link to comment
eye of the lens 0 Posted July 16, 2007 A wonderful portrait. It causes me to wonder who he was playing for and what he is playing. With his head and eyes facing down is he reading music or very caught in the moment? Great photo and interpretation. :) Barbara Link to comment
snapshooter 0 Posted July 16, 2007 Thanks again for your comments, everyone. He was playing classical music at a friend's wedding Barbara. I don't recall the particular composition, but he did seem quite emotionally involved. I think it's somewhat more noticeable in the flopped version I attached above. Link to comment
jan_piller 0 Posted July 17, 2007 Brilliant photo! I actually like both versions - both are emotional and powerful. Really well done! I hope he got copies of these. If it were me, I would want copies. I like your flowers too but I'm short on time right now - but they look good! Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted July 31, 2007 Really nice portrait. Very in the moment. Very expressive. Great composition, cropping. Extremely genuine and natural color to the skin tone. There's determination here which you have captured and allowed me to feel. Congrats. Link to comment
