bree_forssman 0 Posted June 27, 2008 the lighting looks almost mystical! how do you do that? Link to comment
dbcooper 0 Posted July 20, 2008 Well done, Agah. I too have been interested in capturing the subtleties of light, fog, mist, etc., as well as unique human activity. In this photo, you've met all your goals in an attractive way. I would suggest trying different framing or cropping to get the man farther from the measured center of the image (although I do see the opposing 'v' shapes, I don't think such a crop would hurt the image). I feel that moving him a bit to the left, and cropping off some of the darker part of the frame there, would give this image better balance and more emphasis on the mystical quality of the streaming light. This is how my eyes see it. Personally, I like the level of sharpness and color saturation. Have you tried using more muted saturation? i wouldn't change it necessarily - I would just be curious to see how it looked that way. To my eyes, you've succeeded in something I find difficult: giving the image strong visual impact from the color and relative sharpness while bringing out the subtler qualities of tones and light. I can almost feel the humidity. You've done a great job in the post, bring the impact of a B&W photo to a color photograph, without going 'over the top' on the post-processing. Link to comment
