stormphotonet 1 Posted July 10, 2007 We use to think our cars would fly in the year 2000 it was the roads not the cars thanks for looking at some of my work happy shooting and I like these new roads just not how high the signs are lol Link to comment
axelg 3 Posted July 10, 2007 Great shot! Love the colors and the feeling of motion... BTW last year I took this picture from a plane somewhere above east Dallas. Maybe it's the same interchange! Best regards, Axel G. Link to comment
stormphotonet 1 Posted July 10, 2007 Thanks Axel and thanks for the file nice photo I am hoping to do some more of this Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted July 11, 2007 Yeah, um, who's supposed to be looking at that sign?? Wild! And even wilder is how little traffic there is. In the DC Metro area there is NO road that would look this empty even at 5:00 a.m. on a Sunday morning! Amazing!! Link to comment
stormphotonet 1 Posted July 11, 2007 Thanks Lou Ann this is a low traffic travel time for us here in Dallas the mass of steel and concrete has lifted the traffic for this interchange with room for us to grow and in north Texas that is the word grow. If you have time take a look at the links for the Texas High Five at its high point it is a 12 floor structure and no I will not go up on the high point lol that is right the storm chaser has a fear for being up to high lol. Some good links for this getting lost in the sky roadway http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Five_Interchange http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/pt/slideshows/2006/09/highfive_2006/ Link to comment
florainer 0 Posted July 11, 2007 cool shot, nice graphics, and the yellow sign adds that little extra touch. would work well in b/w to, i guess. Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted July 11, 2007 Unfortunately, we've got even more wicked interchanges than this in the LA area. I think we perfected these things. Although the periodic earthquake tends to knock the dog-stuffing out of 'em. Great shot, Ken, and wonderful sky! Sign is priceless too. Cheers! Chris Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted July 12, 2007 Okay, great links! :-) In fact, I was driving the Capitol Beltway this evening and thinking about this shot. I was going through what we call the "Mixing Bowl" ... it was a HORRIBLE interchange in Northern Virginia where the Beltway and some other interstates and highways come together. They are about halfway through a 15 year project to revamp the entire interchange. I was wondering where I could go to photograph it. Apparently you shoot while you drive. LOL! Link to comment
stormphotonet 1 Posted July 12, 2007 Lol yes while driving but I have tripod heads on the dash for the D-200 and the video with remotes I would love to rent a chopper and shoot some from the sky at Dallas Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted July 12, 2007 Didn't you just say something about a storm chaser being afraid of being up too high..... Link to comment
stormphotonet 1 Posted July 12, 2007 Yes I did lol well we (stormchasers) know the higher up you go so does the wind speed being in stopped traffic on one of this 12 floor sky ways with a big T coming man I do not want to think about that one just if you are in a city and bad weather is moving in stop get out have a cup or what ever ok if I start going there we will be here all day Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted July 12, 2007 Great shot - I like the sky with the clouds, the yellow sign 'Lane Ends Merge Right' and the complexity of the fly overs... Being a storm chaser, you obviously spend lots of time on the road. It's nice seeing what is an everyday scene for many people captured like this. Best regards, Frank Link to comment
