regis 0 Posted July 8, 2007 This is my second (and last) photo I managed to take on that amazing sunrise. You can find my previously posted horizontal version in my pf. Now it's time for the vertical one. I know that colours may look unreal to you, but believe me, it is true nature. I couldn't even believe myself. The story behind this shot is exactly the same I described it last time (how could it be different ? :D) but let me write it here one more time. First of all, my plan was to be at the mountain top before the sunrise. As it actually rises around 6am (after a night spent in my car) I had to set off about 5am. With a backpack weighting almost 20kg it is quite an effortful climb. On a way to the top it was very calm and quiet, virtually cloudless sky and gentle breeze blowing from the west. After I had reached the top the weather changed completely. The wind was nothing but enormous and it was trying to blow my head off. It was blowing so strong, that with a blink of an eye I lost one lens (it dropped out of my backpack and crashed on the rocks). Just before the sunrise some rainy clouds came out of nowhere, covering the whole view. I thought it had been over, but suddenly it cleared out for a little while and some beautiful light illuminated the mountain slopes. After another 2-3 minutes the light had gone and the rain started, limiting visibility to just few metres. Feel free to express your comments/critiques. Regards, Piotr. Link to comment

lonebearimages 0 Posted July 8, 2007 Piotr, this is really one of your best images ever. Really quite remarkable light and color. I particularly like the bit of far background mountains and water in the center far right. Superb composition and depth-of-field. Very, very nice work. Appreciated your story behind the shot; sorry about the loss of your lens. Cheers! Chris Link to comment
stp 6 Posted July 8, 2007 The composition, light, and DOF match the story -- wonderful, and worth the effort. Link to comment
