alecee 0 Posted July 8, 2007 Every temple in the Bagan region of Myanmar are some temple keepers. It has a dark and dim interior but the stories told by these keepers and their sheer enjoyment of smoking cigars makes it a worthwhile place to shoot. Link to comment
thinhnguyen 0 Posted July 8, 2007 Great exposure time for shadow & highlight. This background (and light fall in it) is very good choice for a very impressed face. Link to comment

LenMarriott 9 Posted July 9, 2007 Alec, Great subject position in the frame. The statue is nicely lit for a 3D texture and shape revealing effect and the orientation of your subject's face to the main light source provides a similar effect. Nice diagonal between the two. A 50mm f1.4 you say? How common! :-) How effective! Nothing exotic but the subjects. Actually this equals a med tele with the D200 doesn't it? Your timing here is another bonus. Another exceptional image from you, & always a pleasure viewing them. Best, LM. Link to comment

alecee 0 Posted July 9, 2007 Thanks guys, really appreciate your feedback here. The interior is really very dark and the right side there was a kerosene lamp which gives a warm yellow glow to the statue. The oily flames also made the idol greasy with grime and I'm glad to have captured this perfectly. Yes Len, thus the 3D effect with the 'med tele' lens. I use an SB600 dedicated Nikon flash set at -3 with the flash commander system to wirelessly bounce off the wall to light up the keeper (but not too much) so that I can still see the smoke fumes as she puff her cigar. richygale 0 Posted July 11, 2007 super image Alec you have done a super job with the exposure to keep so much of the temple detail in this image, I also like the way the smoke is coming from her mouth (good timing). Well done Rich. Link to comment
