Hi Roger. I really liked the color one. But it was full of brilliant oranges and yellows, typical of end of the day lighting. I thought the colors distracted from the little dog in the scene so I changed it to B&W. This is the boardwalk in Sandwich, MA, by the way. A very unique construction.

The Doggy and DOF are making it Jeff, nice seizing of the moment, Interesting place for sure.I like the B/W conversion even I didn't see the colored one.

From Here to Eternity should be the title of this one. I bet the dog was feeling like a Sandwich in this picture, if you catch my drift. The technical achievement here, of course, is the wonderful DOF. Very nice work, Jeff.

What a great composition Jeff. It looks as though at any moment that eager dog is going to run down that boardwalk. Fantastic depth and light too.

Wonderful use of DOF and the dog in the forground to give perspective...I would have liked it without the people in the background...

Jeff, any chance you will post in color with the dog cropped out? If it was full of striking color, it could be stunning even without the dog. The people make for a great composition.

Roger, Here is the cropped variation with very little done to the color (which seems a bit too bright to me). What do you think? I took many, many shots of this scene, but decided early on that I was going to make this into a B&W scene, so I haven't done anything with the others. I'm really glad you like it.

Nicely done Jeff. Definitely prefer the original BW. The POV just on top of the dog's head is simply brilliant. The pier works as a great lead in. The chair is a bit distracting...but then again it's hardly visible.

I also like this version the best. The dog's gaze creates a tension, an invisible thread to the people in the shot. I too can imagine the dog fidgeting and whimpering ready to run down the boardwalk. Excellent shot.

Thanks all for great comments. Younes, I initially removed the chair, but then put it back because I wanted to convey that the entire scene has been domesticated, not just the dog. I wanted to retain the distraction of having to see a lawn chair in a pristine scene. Perhaps it's overkill.

What an amazing perspective. Truly original and creative in every sense. It has the power to enthrall and hold us captive for a long time.

Technically and artistically well done. As stated, great dof and tones.I like the vanishing point of this walkway. You have found a unique subject to capture. My only suggestion is I wish I could see the entire pooch. Not a big deal though. He looks ready to take off and explore this scene in more detail.Looks like a great place to be.(edited) I think I like the colored version better, but keep the doggy!

I looked at your alternate versaion without the dog and actually prefer it to the original post. I think the story here is perspective and DOF and the dog is more of a distraction to me.

Excellent shot, Jeff! Very nice b&w with great light and very original perspective.

But I can't rate it appropriate. 7/7

Best regards
