British (and Jewish) comedian Baron Sasha Cohen has played the

bumbling, misogynist, nonpolitically correct Kazakh 'reporter' and

traveler 'Borat' as a character on film engaging in ribald and

uproarious hijinks, despite being banned in Russia and maybe other

countries as being against (good taste? of course, it's against good

taste, Cohen poses as an anti-Semite and anti just about everything

else, as his character 'visits America' spoofing just about everybody

he meets (and America in the process). Here Borat (and Cohen) are

spoofed as well. (Read the first comment for an English translation

of the posted quotation from the publication on the wall he's

pointing to. Your ratings and critiques are invited and most

'The hilarious Borat, a true fragmentation bomb against the politically correct'

Quoted from Telerama.

Found on the Metro, Paris

(I hope you approve Mr. Cohen -- my instincts tell me you will . . . unless you have too much hubris, which your comedy suggests you do not have too much of -- and which is a source of its endearing charm.)

I do not know the man personally and I have yet to see the movie but I have watched countless of his BBC TV shows , which are truly hilarious. I am going to hazard a guess that he would approve in spades. A very funny shot.

But sometimes I think his humor is selfish and directed at others, and he does not laugh well at himself -- though he is the butt of so many jokes. Just an impression after this whole thing has blown by, now.

I'll wait and see, but I did get amusement by this, and I'm glad you did too.

(any anti-homosexual remarks youl can discern from this, for he excels at those).

Thanks for commenting.

I know nothing of his off camera personality. On camera he seems to be anti, pretty much, everything. In a world that is so darn PC I sometimes get a laugh out of his inappropriateness. I also must confess to having a sense of humour that is partial to stupidity and some of the his characters come out with some extremely stupid comments.

I imagine some politically correct thinker getting enraged enough to gouge out his eye and replace it with an X. Of course that is not likely the case but the scenario suites me.

At any rate the photo is amusing and stands on its own merits.

I hated the 'Three Stooges' and never really 'got it'. I was unenthralled with 'Lucy'. People hurting people and other people laughing at it. Depictions of stupidy merely grate generally.

But I did get Borat, for whatever reason, but when I heard how Baron Sasha Cohen tricked people and the lies he told to film Borat I understood that he was essentially a guy without morals.

But he is inestimably funny, but incredibly self-centered.

You are entirely accurate in your estimation of the comedic aspects -- and I agree entirely. I laughed myself into stitches at 'Borat' but was uncomfortable with other parts, such as with his portrayal of homosexuality, and the latent homophobic aspects of his portrayal -- and one wonders if he truly was 'sending me up' or if it was part of his personality -- one is left to wonder.

Of course, that didn't threaten my own sexuality.

And I suppose that comedy that puts one on edge can best be described as 'edgy', and anyway it truly was a breath of 'fresh air'.

Best to you, Gordon.
