jan_piller 0 Posted July 5, 2007 It shattered real good!! Excellent stop action! And dangerous! Hope you didn't get any glass in your eye or scratch a lens! How many lightbulbs did you have to go through to get this shot! hahahaha This is wonderful! WEll maybe I'll upload mine too - what the heck! Well done Dennis! Link to comment
dennis jones 0 Posted July 5, 2007 Five of the big bulbs and 3 regular light bulbs...... Link to comment
jan_piller 0 Posted July 5, 2007 That must have been expensive! Mine was 5 buck at a yard sale! Link to comment
dennis jones 0 Posted July 5, 2007 These were the ones the builder put in the house and we are replacing all incadescent with the energy saving type. This was kinda fun... My egg shot didn't turn out quite this good. Link to comment
janisok 0 Posted July 5, 2007 Very cool shot Dennis! Caught at the perfect moment...second! And the dof is nice. J Link to comment
jan_piller 0 Posted July 5, 2007 WEll this one is easier to clean up for sure! hahahaha Link to comment
JohnMWright 1 Posted July 5, 2007 Wow, the timing is perfect! Great light and exposure, great mix of frozen pieces with motion blur. I'm not sure about the background, might prefer a higher angle looking down but... then the light might not have been captured the same way... and I do like the light in the base piece of the bulb. dennis jones 0 Posted July 5, 2007 I never had anything in mind but a low angle. I was hoping for the initial impact, but this one worked out well.... Thanks John Link to comment
richygale 0 Posted July 5, 2007 Dennis, this is a great image you manged to catch all the action with the bits of flying glass, I hate fot think how many bulbs you want through. Very well done Rich. Link to comment
jeverz 0 Posted July 5, 2007 First i thought it was some kind of accident when i saw the thumbnail, glad it was a lamp, very original! Link to comment
kellen1 0 Posted July 6, 2007 Excellent Action shot, you are fast with your shutter finger! (Or did you have the camera shoot a bunch of times in the automatic drive mode?) Either way, this is a shot to be proud of. Link to comment
dennis jones 0 Posted July 6, 2007 Set on High speed burst. I usually got one in before the impact and one after.... Link to comment
dee 14 0 Posted July 6, 2007 This is a cool high speed photo, and quite the literal take on this weeks title! LOL! Cool! Link to comment
jan_piller 0 Posted July 6, 2007 But doesn't this seem almost 3D? Like those shards are jumping right out of the frame at my eyes! Which is really freaky cuz I had a light bulb blow up in my face once. But I didn't see it coming. This one I can see coming and it's kinda weird. I want to duck. No Steve - it's not a duck - it's a lightbulb. Link to comment
dennis jones 0 Posted July 6, 2007 I was pretty happy with this one... It does have an thickness effect. Thanks Jan... Link to comment

steve lamplugh 0 Posted July 6, 2007 Dennis! Great minds think alike huh? This is way more creative than mine. Love the way you managed to freeze the motion so perfectly...well done. Link to comment
mvisionphotography 1 Posted July 6, 2007 hmmm these are the old thin ones that used to shatter in your hands or in the box. Oh I hated these. During the lightning storms they would sometimes pop. Link to comment
lbattjes 0 Posted July 7, 2007 Nice stop action, Gray Beard! Excellent timing. Did you use a remote while you were tossing bulbs? I agree with Jan about the 3D effect this seems to have...very nice. Leslie Link to comment
dennis jones 0 Posted July 7, 2007 no remote trigger, just my cable (shutter) release while standing up. I had the camera mounted upside down to get it close to the ground. This was a series of three burst frames. Link to comment
anthonyd 0 Posted July 7, 2007 Excellent Gray Beard! Well worth all of the bulbs! Of course, I love the 3D effect and the clearity & detail are spot on! BTW, my daughter said this is "RAD!". Link to comment
