Just wanted to share this with everyone. It might just be my last opportunity to see the DC fireworks in person. It was fabulous ... synced up to the 1812 Overture and Stars & Stripes Forever broadcast on the local classical music station (being played live by the National Symphony Orchestra on the Capitol Steps). I was on the Virginia side of the Potomac, near Memorial Bridge (just up river from the bridge). Parking was easy.

I couldn't help but think to myself that ... here I am on the bank of the Potomac River, looking across at the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument, on July 4, watching fireworks, listening to the 1812 Overture and Stars and Stripes Forever, being fed fabulously delicious food by an Afghani family who happened to be sitting next to me and decided to "adopt" me. Only in America ... and only in DC! It was really very cool!

Happy Fourth of July (missed it by a few minutes ....)

Oh wow this is so cool the right wind and the rocket trails going up ok I know when sometimes you live in a town like the capital but this is just to me the awesome shot that fireworks should be thanks Lou Ann for sharing them with us

Again, Ken, thanks ... your compliment means a lot to me. Yes, the wind was wonderful last night ... all the trails lean to the left like that. And, yes, living in DC and seeing the fireworks over the Monuments was a special occasion for me ... I have lived here for eleven years, but haven't seen the DC fireworks until last night. Add the 1812 Overture to that, and it was truly an amazing experience!

The 1812 Overture and fireworks are so powerful but together, if the two do not raze hair you are not alive. From the canons of the overture to the firework shells wow

This one is good too, but somehow that long line from the back of building to firework seems little distracting.

Thanks for sharing.

now, i like the line of light from the building to the firework....connecting it to where it came from.
