swillden 0 Posted July 22, 2007 Thanks for the comments. I should mention that he wasn't actually sad. He was mad because I had just told him that we wouldn't be leaving the cemetery for a while yet, and he was bored. When he plopped down and got that expression on his face, though, I saw how the shot would look and grabbed it. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted July 26, 2007 Incredible moment, scene, and mood. A photographer's dream here. Regardless of what was actually on his mind, you've conveyed my kind of "truth" here. Something universal to which we can all relate and all make personal. The juxtaposition of youth and cemetery is really not just about sadness. It could be about anger as well. It is about serenity. It is about resignation. It is about life, potential and ended. I do have a few technical regrets, however. The fact that his eyes are in such shadow takes away a bit from the expressiveness that might have been caught. He is also cropped a bit awkwardly, feels a little chopped off and uncomposed visually. But your perspective, depth, general lighting, structure, and the overall feel of the photo is really worthy and moving. --Fred Link to comment
swillden 0 Posted October 6, 2007 I appreciate the comments. I agree about the crop; I wish I'd pulled back a little and gotten the rest of him in the frame. Link to comment
