You and Shawn are both busy playing with your Macros and shooting bugs! Before I ramble on about how much I like this image I'm going to make an observation about the ratings.....everyone seems to really like this image except the anonymous raters, which confuses me because a really good "bug shot" usually zooms right to the top ten of the TRP and so far this one hasn't and I personally think it's a good "bug shot"......hummm, what am I missing here?! This is the personification of a beautiful butterfly, one that every child recognizes. The DOF is just perfect and the background colors are so appealing, it gives me that "happy" feeling.

I use to wonder why many of the more active participants in forums, the ones that really expressed their opinions, didn't post photos to be rated. Their photos appear quite nice in fact. Since I've been commenting in forums, my anonymous numbers are always much lower. You should check out my photo from July 1st Evening Light, I had been getting 6/6's and then all of a sudden 3 - 3/3's. I'm speculating that there is an attempt to keep my photos out of TRP since it's the anonymous ratings that are used.

I know what you mean, I've often made disparaging remarks about the anonymous raters dumping 3/3's on undeserving photos (not mine) and then there's a rapid appearance of them on my own images. I've mentioned on several occasions that I'd like to see the postings for critique NOT show the photographers names. Is it a crudge match or are our photos really that bad?! So I TRY to ignore the ratings, although it would be nice to show up in the upper end of the TRP once in a while, but it does piss me off to see an image that's totally wonderful get blasted with 3/3's, it's an on going problem with no easy solution. I've sorta lost interest in the "game" and don't post and or comment as much as I originally did. I have learned a lot from my fellow PNer's and will continue to browse and post when I have the time.
