Kissing Camels 03, Garden of the Gods, Colorado Springs, CO

Okay, back to Colorado. I think that the colors in this image are a bit more natural than in the previous "Kissing Camels" image (see this same folder). What are your thoughts? On color? Composition? Anything else?

Any comments or ratings are always appreciated!! :-)

Lou Ann, this is nifty shot, and an interesting composition with the rocks diagonaling across the frame. Looks like you've got the color of the Morrison Formation sandstone about right too. Go early in the a.m. and play around with shots during the 'golden hour.' Cheers! Chris

Thanks, Chris! That's actually what I was doing, almost. :-) I was there early in the morning for this. But I think because the atmosphere up there is SO clear, the magic "hour" didn't last any *hour*!! The sun was strong and made for horrible shadows after only a few minutes. When I'm living there (!!!!!) I'll have lots more opportunities to go back and play ... and at ANY hour I want. :-)

Nice image Lou Ann, but I found myself turning my head 90 degrees to the left to see what the image looked like that way.

Go back sometime when there's lots of clouds in the sky and that should add some more graphic detail....I want to come along too! I keep checking your postings awaiting some African images and then onto Colorado. Life's an adventure.

Susan - I don't even know if I'll be able to post African images while I'm there on the continent. They say that internet availability is sketchy where I'll be working. And, yes, I totally plan to visit this spot at lots of different times of day with different weather settings. But on my trip last Spring this was the only shot I had at it. Figures ... the best weather/skies for being out and about is less than ideal for photography. :-)

Seeing this photo makes me get more excited about our trip west in September. The red rock against the "desert blue" sky is always beautiful. Africa, wow! How exciting. Can't wait until you post photos from there. God bless!
